How did you get into cycling? A childhood mentor used cycling to teach me about life. Sunday rides were our church. I became a mountain bike racer in high school and started training on an old Miyata road bike.

What's your greatest accomplishment in cycling? Getting back into the sport after college and racing with the big boys after a couple of seasons.

What do you do when you're not on the bike? Reading and BBQ'ing in Dolores Park with my girlfriend. Other than that I'm usually eating.

If you were a character in a movie, which character would that be? I think I'd be Detective Smecker from Boondock Saints. He was intensely focused but capable of unleashing a lot of rage when he needed to. I'm not a transvestite, though.
